Ballybunion - Old Course

Dated back as far as 1893, the ‘Old Course’ is richly steeped in history and prestige and has been acclaimed as one of golf’s premier destinations, drawing enthusiasts from all over the globe.

Bordering the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, this 6029 metre, par 71 course was designed to cause the minimum disruption to the natural sand dunes and environment, providing the discerning golfer with an array of natural hazards along the way to ensure a truly testing day out on this classic links course.

The ‘Watson Cashen Course’ derives its name from the tidal estuary where the salmon rich Cashen River ends its journey.

The course provides the golfer with a true test of accuracy. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, narrow fairways, steep and imposing slopes, high gorse and hilly terrain are some of the features on this thoroughly challenging course. These rugged features are enhanced by a backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, white delicate sands and a view to lift the heart.
