When visiting Ballybunion we highly recommend a visit to one of the most spectacular beaches in Ireland, the Nun's Beach. Untouched & unspoiled with amazing views from every angle. The nuns beach is a must see on your explorations of North Kerry. This stunning, secluded beach is located in the popular seaside resort of Ballybunnion. Carved out by the Atlantic Ocean the beach gets its name from the convent located on the cliff top just above the cove. The beach was used by the resident nuns in times past as a private bathing area.
Access to the beach is a little challenging and involves a scramble down a steep track with the assistance of a rope. We recommend viewing the beach from the cliff top as it offers the best vistas and great opportunities for photography. The nuns beach is part of a scenic cliff walk right here in Ballybunion. Other amazing sights alongside the nuns beach includes the nine daughters' hole and virgin rock along with many other beautiful sea stacks, hidden caves and jagged inlets.
Ballybunion retains its charm in its traditional seaside shop fronts and arcades, where children and adults alike can spend long summer evenings creating memories that last a lifetime. We believe that our little corner of the world deserves your attention and we would love to show it to you the next time you visit Ballybunnion. Our guests can also choose to do a self-guided Hidden Gems Tour by picking up a listing of suggested destinations at reception.
